What a day to film a wedding! One of our absolute favourite weddings from last year was Alice & Graeme’s epic day at the stunning Chedington Weddings in the heart of the jaw-dropping Dorset countryside. We’d met up with Alice & Graeme at a number of other weddings we’d shot over the years so it felt like their big day was a long time coming – that was even before the pandemic. It’s always lovely to catch up with our former brides and grooms and see lots of familiar faces on the day. This is just one of the reasons we love being wedding videographers.

We stayed in a gorgeous little Airbnb the night before to ensure we were well rested and ready to hit the ground running…and there was lots of ground to cover throughout the day. The Axnoller Estate stretches over 100 acres of lush rolling Dorset countryside. Alice & her girls were getting ready on one side of the valley from Graeme and the boys at the ceremony venue – the magnificent and historic Jacobean Chedington Court.

There was plenty of racing around the tiny Dorset back roads to cover all of the morning preparations. Thankfully with the two of us on hand, we were able to capture all of the action on both sides of the valley. We love this part of the day – the build-up of excitement and nerves as the couple watches their plans fall into place and everything starts to get real! It’s also the one part of the wedding day that they don’t get to experience together so we love that we get to give them the opportunity to see the bigger picture and whole story of their day. Speaking of the bigger picture, Graeme was very keen for us to incorporate some aerial footage in our wedding film. Once we took the drone up above the Chedington Estate we understood why. This was the most jaw-dropping location for a wedding we had ever seen.

The setting for the ceremony was the equally stunning Great Hall at Chedington Court, with its giant cathedral-like window and grand wooden vaulted ceiling. We love capturing the Groom’s reaction and Graeme was truly floored when he saw Alice walking down the aisle. Thankfully he wasn’t lost for words as they had both written some beautiful personalised vows to each other.

After the drinks reception on the terrace overlooking the immaculate formal gardens, there was a confetti send-off as the new Mr & Mrs headed off to their reception venue across the other side of the estate. Axnoller had a more chilled vibe with its huge “party barn” and sun-soaked terrace complete with canapé stations serving everything from Oysters to Parma Ham and Ice Cream. Their guests were also treated to surprise espresso martinis before sitting down for speeches and the wedding breakfast.

It was so lovely to see the vision for their wedding day all finally come together seamlessly as you can see from this Dorset wedding video.
